Change Tempo and Meter using Scene names in Ableton Live 8

This is an extremely important feature of Ableton Live 8 that often gets overlooked. It’s extremely easy to change Tempo and Meter by typing the desired values right into the Scene name. See the picture below.

Simply type in the tempo value followed by BPM and it will conform the session the tempo, for instance 120BPM. To change the meter simply type in the desired meter, 7/4 for instance. The numerator can be anything from 1-99 but the denominator can only be 1,2,4,8, or 16. If you want to change both tempo and meter you simply have to insert some kind of character between them and it will read, – or + sign for instance.
